Free Time –Cordoba

You’re headed to Argentina to make a difference, but that doesn’t mean you can’t also have an amazing vacation while you’re there! You’ll be happy to know that while volunteering in Argentina with IFRE, you’ll only be working about five hours a day. Your evenings are weekends are totally free, and you’ll have plenty of time to explore this amazing destination!

Our volunteer projects are located in the unique city of Cordoba, Argentina. You’ll find beautiful historical architecture and a number of cultural activities that are sure to keep you busy during your free time including an impressive art museum, an opulent theater, a lively square with musicians, performers, and wares for sale, and an array of shops and restaurants. A Cordoba original, you can also enjoy the unique music and dance sensation that is Cuarteto, a catchy and upbeat blend of accordion, piano, violin, and bass.

Weekend Exploration

Since you’ll only be working five days a week, the weekends are a great chance for Argentina volunteers to get out and explore other areas in this fascinating country.

La Cumbre is a tiny village in the Sierra La Cordoba mountain range about a two hour drive away. Home to strong winds and cliffs, this is a paragliding hotspot and also a great destination to horseback ride through stunning mountain landscapes.

Just minutes away is Villa Carlos Paz, a charming town on the shores of Lake San Roque where you can kayak, swim, sail, windsurf, fish, go horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking. Be sure to take the chair-lift for a stunning view of the lake and town below.

While IFRE doesn’t plan excursions for your free time, our local in-country staff will be happy to offer advice on what to do best and how best to book your travel. Be sure to include money for recreation and meals during your free time in your budget and make the most of your volunteer vacation in Argentina!
