Argentina is a fascinating and varied country that has a whole lot to offer the international traveler. Beautiful lakes, volcanoes, Latin dancing, delicious cuisine, mountains, and beaches can all be found in this unique South American destination.

Argentina has a lot going on, but not all of it is good. Recovering from a turbulent and violent past, many communities are suffering and need help to develop and grow. Lack of infrastructure and old, outdated systems that need to be overhauled are real problems facing these communities.

At IFRE’s professional support volunteer program in Argentina, you will share your professional skills, talents, and knowledge to help improve local communities in the areas of communication and administrative work, environmental conservation, education, employment opportunity, human rights, events and sports promotion, art, culture and tourism, family violence prevention, state welfare program, nutrition assistance programs and safe, affordable housing.

By sharing your own particular skillset, you will help local Argentinian communities recover from their dark past and move forward into a more successful and efficient future. You will become immersed in a new culture and learn to see the world in a new way, all while making the world a better place.

Volunteer Responsibilities & Impact

You will work about 4-5 hours a day, Monday-Friday, assisting local organizations and government municipalities in activities which will help improve their overall functioning and how well they serve the communities they are designed to serve. Depending on your individual skills, interests, and the needs of the local staff, your daily activities may involve:

  • Prepare recreational activities
  • Assist the staff on routine tasks
  • Propose new ideas to improve the day to day work at the organization
  • Promotion and advertising
  • Search for financing resources

You will contribute your own professional skills and passions to organizations and government municipalities who need your help and will benefit from your new perspective on the issues they have been struggling with. Have an amazing time enjoying Argentina while giving back to people in need!


Skills and Qualifications:

The great part about this project is you will bring your own professional skills and background to the table to help benefit communities in need. Volunteers from a variety of backgrounds will have something to offer this project, so bring your talent!

Interested individuals must be enthusiastic, resourceful, well rounded, flexible, adaptive, patient and proactive. At all times you must respect locals and host organizations, their rules and their projects.

You must be at least 18 years old in order to participate and intermediate level Spanish is required. If you cannot speak more than basic Spanish, we suggest you enroll in our Spanish language course to make your stay more rewarding – both for you and the organizations you are trying to help.


Working in this project in Argentina will be greatly rewarding and fulfilling as you get to utilize your own unique skills, talents and passions, making each day a fun-filled and exciting adventure.

Your daily schedule is going to depend a lot on what skills you have to offer, what your project placement ends up being, and what kind of work is needed from you when you arrive. To give you a rough idea of what each day will hold, take a look at this sample schedule.

First Day:

On your first day of volunteering in Argentina, you’ll connect with your in-country coordinator and they’ll bring you to your placement where you’ll meet the team you’ll be working with. You’ll get trained at an informative orientation session wherewe’ll go over your daily schedule, talk about your service work, brief you on safety protocol, and go over the customs and culture of Argentina.

Weekdays: Your work begins in earnest on the second day, and atypical volunteer day is as follows:

6.00 to 7.30 AM: Make sure to fuel up with a delicious breakfast before your day of volunteering.

7.45 AM: Head out to your project placement, most likely located within 25 minutes of your accommodation. Spend the day working hard to help the organization improve and grow with your professional support.

12.00 PM: Take a break for lunch and socialize with fellow volunteers or project staff.

3.00 PM: Around this time, you’ll finish up your work for the day. Take a stroll around Cordoba or relax after a fantastic day volunteering in Argentina.

You probably can’t wait to get to Argentina and start using your professional skills to make a difference! We get it. This is an exciting opportunity to travel and make a difference. Before you head out to Argentina, there are few important details you need to know about.

Arrival and Departure

You will fly into Pajas Blancas International Airport for our Argentina volunteer programs. Be sure to provide our in-country coordinator with your flight itinerary, and they will schedule for our local representative to pick you up from the airport. You’ll find them waiting for you with a sign with your name on it, and they will escort you to your accommodations.

Following the completion of your volunteer project, you’ll need to arrange and pay for your own departure transportation. Our local project staff will be happy to let you know how to book a taxi to the airport.

Volunteer Opportunities in Argentina –Visa

Depending on your nationality, you are going to need to obtain a tourist visa from the embassy of Argentina prior to your departure from your home country in order to participate in our Argentina volunteer programs. Most single-entry tourist visas last for about 90 days.

However, citizens of countries such as New Zealand, America, the UK, Australia and Canada can enter Argentina without obtaining a tourist visa and can get a visa stamp of 90 days upon arriving at the international airport in Argentina. Do some research ahead of time to learn the requirements for your home country.

You need to visit the Immigration Office and fill out a visa extension form in order to extend their visa if they wish to stay on longer than originally planned. You can learn more about Argentina tourist visas here:

Vaccination

Polio, pneumonia, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), influenza, hepatitis B, measles, meningitis, shingles, yellow fever, Hepatitis A, rabies, chickenpox, mumps and rubella (MMR), and typhoid are some of the vaccinations needed for a visit to Argentina.
