What volunteer opportunities are available in China
Our volunteer opportunities in China provide you with meaningful and life changing events. You will make a positive impact on disadvantaged children and they will leave a lasting impression on your heart. We have volunteer and paid teaching programs in China. You can choose from a variety of unique programs to fit your needs.
Volunteer Teaching English in China
Being able to speak English in China is a highly needed skill to gain better employment. Our programs to volunteer to teach English in China are aimed at helping students learn basic English skills. We work together with local community schools in rural areas to help the low-income locals that otherwise would not have the resources to learn English.
Required Qualifications: There are no previous skills required to teach English in China. You should however have a basic understanding of the English language and be able to efficiently teach it. We accept non-native speakers as long as they can speak, write, and read English.
You will not be paid or receive any benefits for this project.
Responsibilities for Volunteers: As a volunteer teaching English in China, you will teach in local schools in the poor communities. It may be possible for you to receive free room and food, but you will not be paid a salary.
Get Paid to Teach in China
For the teaching jobs in China, you only need to be a citizen of a country that’s native language is English such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, etc. No other qualifications are needed.
Programs are geared at meeting your time-frame needs, they can last 1 month or 1 year based on your needs. You may be able to be compensated if you have a Bachelor’s Degree in any topic or 1-year teaching experience with your TEFL/TOSEL certification.
There is no monthly fee just a onetime fee of $789 which will cover your insurance.
Basic Skills Needed: To teach English in China you need to be a native English speaker. You can get paid more if you have certifications like TEFL.
Pay/Benefits: Benefits for Teaching 6-12 Months in China
If you are a native English speaker, you can earn up to 3,000 RMB a month. If you are a Native English speaker with a degree and experience, you can earn 3,500-4,500 RMB a month.
Added benefits to teaching English in China are the possibility of a food stipend or grocery coupons, a free health clinic, free lodging, assistance with obtaining visa to China Services, local staff support, and reimbursement of round trip airline tickets with a 10-month contract. You will however be responsible for your utilities.
Volunteer Program Dates
Most programs are available year-round. We recommend volunteers begin their placements on a Monday, scheduling their arrival and departure on the weekends. However, due to flight availability, particularly traveling internationally, start dates are flexible.
We ask that all volunteers ensure to communicate their arrival and departure plans clearly to their country coordinator to ensure transportation and accommodations are properly arranged.

We remain devoted to maintaining both the quality of the program and the safety of all volunteers involved.
IFRE fees comprise of two separate fees:
- Application fee of $299 USD (covers advertising, staff/office expenses, etc.)
- Weekly program fee paid directly to your project (covers room/board, field support, etc).
You will pay your fee directly to host families and projects. In this way, what you pay will go directly from you to the people who deserve it (not for profit).

Program Fees Exclude:

The volunteering programs in China fees will cover expenses that will begin on the first day of the program (usually the first or third Monday of the month) to the last day of the program. If you arrive before the first day of the program or you decide you stay beyond your program’s last day, you will be responsible for the additional expenses.
Lodging/Meals/Guidance
China volunteer programs provide lodging with a hotel, a home base, or a host family. All of our accommodations are clean and safe. At our home base location, you will share your room with other volunteers and meals will be prepared by our chef. Volunteers residing in the hotel will eat their meals in the restaurant where the students eat. Host families will provide your meals.
If you do not like the meals offered, you can purchase your own at local restaurants or stores. We will be in constant communication with you to make sure all your needs are met, and you are satisfied with your program. Your local staff member will be available to you 24 hours a day.
