Peru
Work In An Orphanage (Cusco)
Although Peru is a well-known tourist destination, more than half of the population lives on less than $2USD a day. This leaves thousands of children in desperate need for basic care and destined to live in a vicious poverty cycle.
This project aims to provide homes, education, and love to these children. The orphanage has an atmosphere of a large family and the local staff are there 100% of the time to support and nurture the children. This high school student travel abroad program asks that volunteers teach English, help children with their homework, and lead extracurricular activities that help the children express themselves.
By providing love and attention these orphaned children who desperately crave and deserve it, you let them know that they are not worthless and deserve a bright future despite their rough beginning. Guatemala
Medical/Healthcare/Hospitals
Guatemala is a stunning country, but unfortunately many Guatemalans live in poverty, and have limited or no access to healthcare. While healthcare facilities work hard to stay up to date with modern medicine, many disadvantaged Guatemalans are left by the wayside as they lack access to these advances.
Although your responsibility as a traveling high school student volunteer medical volunteer in Guatemala will depend on your education, skills, and experience, tasks may include assisting medical staff, doing administrative work, or providing patient basic care. You will also work closely with the local doctors and perform tasks such as collecting patient information and measurements, providing counseling, treating minor wounds and injuries and other various tasks.

Volunteering With Underprivileged Children
Poverty prevails throughout much of Argentina. Many parents are unable to sufficiently provide for their children, so they grow up without an adequate nutrition, education, companionship, or personal attention.

Galapagos Conservation Project
San Cristobal Island is home to a variety of flora and fauna, but due to several adverse effects, it is now listed on the World Heritage list of endangered places. Skill and Qualifications
Some high school student volunteering travel programs like healthcare, medical, and teaching English do have specific requirements. To work in healthcare, you must be a pre-med student, and to teach English you must be a fluent speaker.
Otherwise, the only requirement in general to participate in these volunteer opportunities is that you have an open-mind and passion for the project you are supporting.

The Start Date(s)
All programs start on Mondays, although we will work with you if there’s a travel conflict.
The Fee
IFRE is a non-profit organization trying to change the world. We promote global humanitarian efforts and volunteer experiences at the most affordable rate.
In general, IFRE asks for a $299 registration fee which goes toward paying for local support, airport transfers, program donations, etc. You will also be asked to pay a weekly program fee which is goes directly to your host family and service project.
Even with low program prices, IFRE maintains outstandingly high-quality volunteer programs. We do everything we can to ensure safe, fun, and meaningful volunteer abroad experience.

Housing and Food
The housing and food accommodations you receive depend on your project and country. Most volunteers stay with at least one other same-gendered student with one of our wonderful host families. However, you may also be asked to stay in a shared volunteer house, hostel, or cabin.
Whichever high school student volunteering program you decide to join, our outstanding field staff will ensure that you are happy and comfortable in whatever type of accommodations you receive.
