How to prepare for volunteer abroad trips?
Travelling abroad to volunteer is not an easy decision. However you need a lot of preparation and research to get the most out of the volunteering experience abroad. IFRE will support you through the entire process to make sure that you get the best while travelling abroad.
Flight
The nursing student volunteering program fees does not include flight and other visa charges, you will therefore be required to book and pay for a return ticket to the country that you will select. Depending on your budget, research widely and buy your ticket in advance to avoid last minute rush that can be very expensive.
Visa and Passport requirements
Since you will be travelling internationally you will need to bring a valid passport. Many countries require that your passport is more than six months to the expiry date, and with at least two blank visa pages.
To join volunteer opportunities for nursing students abroad you will need a tourist visa for the time you intend to volunteer abroad. In many instances you will be able to have a visa extension should you choose to spend more time abroad. Some countries will offer on arrival visas depending on your nationality. Check with the Embassy in your home country for more information. Also be informed that visa fees are almost always needed.
Do I need any vaccinations?
Absolutely! Most of the countries that you will travel to volunteer are developing countries with no proper access to basic healthcare. You need to be protected. What do I need to pack?

Extra money
Even thou most food, accommodation and airport transfers are included in the programs fees, you will need extra money for travelling and other activities such as eating and drinking out. Budget enough extra money so that you are able to travel as much as possible.
