Reusable Pads Volunteer Program in Uganda

Are you passionate about improving menstrual health and hygiene for women and girls in Uganda? Do you want to contribute to sustainable practices and make a positive impact on local communities? Are you interested in experiencing the vibrant culture of Uganda while supporting a crucial cause?

Many women and girls in Uganda struggle with menstrual hygiene due to the high cost of sanitary products and limited access in rural areas. Many cannot afford disposable pads, leading to health problems and discomfort.

community development

There is also a lack of education about menstrual hygiene and reusable pads, which adds to the stigma and makes it harder for women and girls to manage their periods properly. To tackle these issues, it’s important to provide affordable, reusable pads, educate the community, and create a supportive environment that encourages open discussion and healthier practices.

IFRE's Reusable Pads Volunteering Program in Uganda aims to improve menstrual hygiene by providing affordable reusable pads to women and school children in need. The program focuses on training girls and women to make their own reusable pads and offers education on personal hygiene and sanitation. Volunteers assist with organizing workshops and community outreach to distribute pads, address concerns, and foster open discussions. By engaging women and teenage girls in pad production and offering tailoring training, the program supports long-term sustainability and helps reduce stigma around menstruation.

If you feel called to make a difference in menstrual hygiene and empower women and girls in Uganda, join us in this impactful initiative. Contact IFRE today to enroll in this highly meaningful project and help create positive change in the community.

Experiences Shared by Our Former Volunteers:

Kim, Sweden

I lived in nabbingo for 5 weeks and had a great time with Herman and his very friendly family. As a med student I was able to practice and learn a lot from the friendly staff in mpigi health clinic. I would recommend this project, and I think the school project is very good as well.

Daniel, Male

I worked at a school for poor children and sometimes volunteered at an orphanage. It was a great experience, it was tough too, and devastating to hear some of these children's stories - it makes you feel grateful for everything you've got. The staff at the school and the host family were all lovely...
