Sports Coaching Volunteer Program in Zimbabwe

Do you have a passion for sports and a desire to positively impact the lives of underprivileged children through sports coaching? Do you dream of traveling to Zimbabwe to provide professional coaching and training to young individuals who lack such opportunities? If your passion aligns with these goals, consider joining our Sports Coaching Volunteer Program for a fulfilling and impactful experience!

Zimbabwe, in southern Africa, is like a treasure chest for travelers. It's got amazing places like Victoria Falls and Matobo National Park with cool rocks and animals. The cities are lively, and people are super friendly, mixing old traditions with new stuff. If you want a trip full of nature, wildlife, and a taste of local life, Zimbabwe's the place!

Sadly, in Zimbabwe, poverty is widespread, and many children lack access to sports learning opportunities. This deprivation stems from limited resources, making it challenging for youngsters to explore and develop their sporting talents. Additionally, inadequate infrastructure and a lack of professional coaching further hinder the growth of sports programs for these children.

IFRE Volunteers recognized these issues and designed this program to bridge the gap, providing essential sports coaching and learning experiences that empower underprivileged youth, offering them a chance to discover their potential in the realm of sports.

Volunteers play a pivotal role in supporting these youngsters to discover their sporting gifts. The program facilitates volunteer attachment to established soccer teams in Victoria Falls' second division, where volunteers impart their expertise in approaching soccer both as a sport and as an enterprise.

Skills and Qualifications:

If you have a background in physical education, sports, teaching, or coaching, you possess the skills needed to offer valuable learning experiences to children. Volunteers, aged 18 or older, are sought after for their love and passion for sports, commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle, and the desire to teach children in need.

Patience, flexibility, and a willingness to assist in various school activities, along with coaching children in different sports and recreational pursuits, are essential qualities for those eager to contribute to this meaningful volunteer program.

Responsibilities & Impact:

Transform the lives of underprivileged children through sports coaching and community engagement. This impactful project promises to be a life-changing experience for volunteers as they inspire young individuals through the universal language of sports, particularly soccer, the most prevalent activity in Africa. While many youngsters participate in sports for recreation, those at the grassroots level often lack opportunities to turn their natural talents into a livelihood due to a dearth of professional coaching and training.

Recognizing soccer's global prominence and economic significance, IFRE believes volunteers play a crucial role in helping young talents discover their potential. Volunteers are actively involved in coaching, youth training, scheduling, and strategic planning. Most volunteers commit for at least eight months to successfully train and manage teams, win trophies, and expose local talents to regional opportunities.

This vital project offers flexibility, allowing volunteers to choose between full-time sports coaching or part-time coaching coupled with activities like working with orphans, teaching in schools, dance instruction, or assisting in public healthcare.

As a volunteer in Zimbabwe sports program, you will need to be adaptable around the children’s other educational requirements and therefore flexible with your schedule.

First Day: On your first day of volunteering, you will be escorted to your placement by a local coordinator, introduced to the project staff, provided an orientation session, and given you schedule.

Weekdays: While your schedule will be tailored to your project needs this typical volunteer schedule will give you an idea of what to expect.

6.00 to 7.30 AM: Fuel with a delicious breakfast at the volunteer house.

7.45 AM: Head off for a day of valuable life-changing work teaching children sports and the value of teamwork.

12.00 PM: Enjoy a lunch getting to know the children, local staff and like-minded volunteers. Before setting off for more active classes in the afternoon.

3:00 PM: Around this time, unless you are helping out with after school activities, you will be free to travel home, go shopping, explore local places or plan lessons for the next day.
